About the role The Co-ordinator of Specialised Basketball is responsible to the Director of Canons Sport and works closely with the Head of Learning – Health and Physical Education, to achieve the College's strategic goals. The Co-ordinator of Specialised Basketball must show leadership through their witness in living and promoting the Catholic ethos of St Norbert College. Within the context of Christian leadership, those who hold the position must be visionary and proactive, and motivators of students to use their talents and gifts in building sportsmanship at the College.

Key responsibilities

- Demonstrate a solid rapport with, and an understanding of students, with a particular focus on their interests and talents in basketball
- Seek opportunities to promote, acknowledge, and celebrate students' achievements and growth in basketball
- Possess strong organisational skills to effectively plan and manage basketball-related activities, events, and competitions
- Display a positive, proactive, and creative approach to problem-solving in the context of the Specialised Basketball Program
- Co-ordinate the selection of students for entry into the Specialised Basketball Program through annual tryouts
- Organise and co-ordinate basketball activities, practices, and competitions, including school teams and inter-school events




- Identify and facilitate opportunities for students to further develop their basketball skills through external competitions, development programs and representative pathways
- Ensure appropriate risk management, supervision and duty of care procedures are implemented across all basketball related activities
- Act as a mentor and guide to student athletes, providing support and encouragement
- Manage and maintain basketball equipment and facilities

About you

- Be supportive of the Catholic and Norbertine ethos of the College
- Hold a current TRBWA registration and Working with Children Clearance
- Undertake Mandatory Reporting training (CPPMR) and maintain annually
- Personal commitment to tasks undertaken
- Enthusiasm, energy and a passion for Basketball
- High standard of organisational and time management skills
- Work collaboratively with staff, students and parents
- Possess strong communication and relationship building skills to effectively build rapport with the College Community and the wider community
