Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Sydney, NSW for a Commercial and IP Lawyer with approximately 2–5 years PQE. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including service agreements, licensing arrangements, and technology-related contracts. You will provide advice on intellectual property rights, registration, licensing, assignment, and enforcement, as well as manage IP portfolios and assist with risk assessments.

Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, preparing opinions and client briefs, supporting dispute resolution, and collaborating closely with clients to understand their commercial objectives.



You will work with other team members to deliver practical, outcome-focused legal solutions, contribute to internal knowledge development, and help maintain high professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in commercial law, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on commercial risk and strategy.
- Experience in intellectual property law, including IP protection, licensing, assignment, and enforcement across trademarks, copyright, and related rights.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise advice, agreements, and client-facing documents.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships, work collaboratively in a team setting, and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Admission as a solicitor in Australia and a current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one); 2–5 years post-qualification experience in commercial and/or IP law.
- High level of professional integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to efficiency, simplicity, and outcome-focused service.
- Experience in a boutique or commercial firm workplace and exposure to technology, media, or start-up clients will be highly regarded.
