We’re seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant / Senior Medical Officer for an exciting opportunity within a supportive regional emergency service in Victoria. This role offers the opportunity to combine frontline emergency medicine with clinical leadership, supporting the effective operation of the Emergency Department while contributing to workforce development, education, clinical governance and ongoing service improvement.

It’s an excellent opportunity for a senior clinician looking to make a meaningful impact on emergency care delivery and the development of junior medical staff within a regional health service.

Position details

- Location : Regional Victoria
- Role: Emergency Medicine Consultant / Senior Medical Officer
- Work type: Combined clinical and leadership position
- Clinical duties: Senior emergency care, clinical oversight and support for departmental operations
- Leadership responsibilities : Clinical supervision, education, quality improvement and service development

Key responsibilities

- Provide high-quality emergency medical care and senior clinical support within the Emergency Department
- Deliver on-the-floor clinical leadership, supporting safe, efficient and coordinated patient care
- Supervise, mentor and educate junior medical staff, including interns,



HMOs and international medical graduates
- Contribute to departmental planning, operational improvement and workforce development
- Support clinical governance, accreditation, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Collaborate with senior medical leadership and multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery
- Contribute to teaching, clinical education and the ongoing development of the emergency service

Ideal profile

- MBBS or equivalent qualification
- General registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for registration
- Significant experience in Emergency Medicine at a senior level
- Strong clinical judgement and confidence managing complex emergency presentations
- Experience supervising, mentoring and teaching junior medical staff and students
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and an interest in service improvement
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary environment
