DGH is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Townsville, Queensland. This is a full time position that plays a critical role in our business operations. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, bids, and project proposals that form the foundation of our business development and project planning.
This role requires both technical expertise and commercial acumen, ensuring that DGH remains competitive whilst maintaining healthy profit margins on all projects.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bids for projects
- Analyse project scope and develop comprehensive material and labour cost breakdowns
- Review tender documents and specifications to identify project requirements and potential risks
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing information
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical project data to support future estimating activities
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project conditions and inform estimate accuracy
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations of estimates for management review and client presentations
- Monitor industry pricing trends and market conditions to ensure competitive and realistic estimates
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing
- Support the tendering process and provide post-project cost analysis to improve estimating processes
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as an Estimator
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
