PeopleForge Recruitment is currently looking for an experienced Fleet Allocator / Controller for our client, a well-established transport and logistics company based in Melbourne's western suburbs.

We're looking for someone who knows the transport industry, has experience organising drivers and deliveries, and can handle working in a busy environment.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for organising the day-to-day pick-ups and deliveries, making sure drivers are allocated the right jobs and everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Some of your duties will include:

- Planning and organising daily pick-up and delivery runs
- Allocating jobs to drivers and keeping track of deliveries
- Staying in regular contact with drivers throughout the day
- Making sure freight is collected and delivered on time
- Dealing with delays, changes and any issues that come up
- Working closely with the operations team to keep things running smoothly
- Keeping track of daily performance and reporting any issues
- Making sure transport and safety procedures are followed

What We're Looking For

- Previous experience in fleet allocation, transport coordination, dispatch or a similar role
- Good knowledge of the transport and logistics industry




- Robust communication and organisational skills
- Someone who can prioritise jobs and make decisions when things get busy
- Experience using transport management, dispatch or scheduling systems
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Someone who can work under pressure and solve problems as they come up
- Knowledge of fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility, load restraint and Dangerous Goods requirements would be an advantage
- Experience using Orcoda or similar transport systems would be highly regarded
- Previous experience in a similar transport role is essential.
