About the role

Howard Sawmill is seeking an experienced Gibson Twin Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team on a full-time basis. Located in Howard, QLD 4659, this role is pivotal to our sawmill operations, where you will operate and maintain our Gibson Twin Saw equipment to process timber with precision and efficiency. This position is essential to maintaining our production standards and delivering high-quality timber products to our customers.

You will be responsible for ensuring optimal machine performance whilst adhering to strict safety protocols and quality specifications.

Key responsibilities

- Operating the Gibson Twin Saw equipment to cut timber to specified dimensions and quality standards
- Monitoring machine performance and making real-time adjustments to blade alignment, feed speed and cutting parameters
- Conducting routine maintenance and cleaning of the Gibson Twin Saw, including blade inspection and replacement as required
- Identifying and troubleshooting equipment faults, reporting issues to maintenance staff and assisting with repairs
- Maintaining accurate production records and documenting output, downtime and any incidents
- Ensuring all timber meets quality specifications and grading requirements before processing further
- Adhering to all workplace health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicating effectively with other team members to coordinate workflow and maintain productivity
- Assisting with the setup and calibration of the Gibson Twin Saw for different timber types and cutting specifications

What we're looking for

- Proven experience operating a Gibson Twin Saw or similar twin blade sawmill equipment
- Sound knowledge of timber characteristics, grading standards and cutting specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards




- A solid understanding of workplace health and safety practices within manufacturing environments
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting
- Reliability and punctuality with a focus on minimizing downtime
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, standing and repetitive movements
- Forklift License would be advantageous and demined to be important to the role.
