About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary operations at Unicorn Broadbeach Seafood Restaurant. This is a full-time position based in Broadbeach, Gold Coast, Queensland.

As Head

Chef, you will be at the forefront of our kitchen, overseeing all aspects of food preparation, menu development and culinary excellence. This role is pivotal to maintaining the high standards our guests expect and ensuring the seamless operation of our kitchen team. You will work on-site, leading from the front and setting the tone for our entire culinary department.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking and plating to ensure exceptional quality and consistency
- Develop, create and refine menus that showcase our seafood offerings and reflect current culinary trends
- Manage kitchen inventory, food costs and supplier relationships to maintain profitability without compromising quality
- Lead, mentor and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene and health code regulations at all times
- Monitor food quality and presentation standards, maintaining consistency across all dishes
- Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure guest satisfaction and address any culinary concerns
- Plan and execute special events, seasonal menus and promotional dining experiences
- Maintain and manage kitchen equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and safety protocols

What we're looking for

- Minimum 5+ years' professional culinary experience, with substantial experience working as a Head Chef or senior kitchen position
- Extensive knowledge of seafood preparation, cooking techniques and flavour profiles
- Proven expertise in menu design, food costing and kitchen management
- Robust leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train and develop kitchen staff
- In-depth understanding of food safety standards,



HACCP principles and health code compliance
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities, particularly during peak service periods
- Creative culinary mindset with the ability to innovate whilst maintaining classic techniques
- Current food safety and hygiene certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all departments
- Passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences and guest satisfaction
