"Show me the money."

Jerry Maguire had it right.

He just never had to reconcile it against a modern award at 4pm on a Tuesday.

Nobody has ever thrown a party for an accurate pay run.

You get it.

It's payday.

Someone on the team checks their phone before work.

The pay's landed. Right amount. Right day. Overtime's there. Super's there.

They don't think about it again.

They pay the rent. Book the footy tickets. Buy the kids new school shoes. Get on with their day.

That's the whole point.

Because get it wrong by $12.40, and you'll hear about it before your coffee's gone cold.

Pay isn't just a number. It's rent. It's groceries. It's trust.

Behind that pay is a pay run.

Timesheets, award clauses, tax tables, super contributions and the occasional "I definitely worked Saturday."

And behind all of that is one person making sure it's right.

Simple in theory.

We all know payroll rarely is.

This is a brand-recent HR & Payroll Officer role in a growing business.

Your week has a rhythm.

Mondays you round up timesheets and chase the stragglers (there are always stragglers).

Tuesdays you're translating award clauses into plain English and fixing anything that's genuinely wrong.

By Friday it's exported to Xero, tax is sorted and next week is lined up.

But this business doesn't need someone who presses the same button every fortnight and calls it a day.

When something doesn't add up, the question isn't simply: How do I fix it?

It's: Why did it happen? And how do we stop it happening again?

Now here's the kicker. If you know your way around Employment Hero, we need to talk.

They need someone curious enough to get properly into the weeds and work out how to get the most from the system.

Not simply: What does it do now?

But: What could it do if someone actually dug in?

You'll pick up the HR admin too, so you'll see the whole people side of the business, not just the numbers.

So there's enough variety to keep things interesting.

And no, your first job is to understand.

Take over the pay runs. Get to know the people. Learn which timesheets always come in late (and who's behind them).

Then start making the role your own.

Australian payroll experience is essential. You've handled PAYG, super, payroll tax, terminations and modern awards. And you can explain all of it to someone who's convinced they've been underpaid.

Employment Hero experience would be excellent. Solid Excel skills are a must.

Real experience counts for more than a piece of paper.

Above all, you'll be accurate, accountable and proactive.

Because payroll isn't exactly the place for a "close enough is good enough" attitude.

But technical ability is only half of it.

Attitude is the big one.

You can be meticulous and still be approachable.

You can say "that's not quite right" and still be the person everyone likes chatting to in the kitchen.

They want someone curious,

detail-obsessed and good with people. Someone who spots a problem, asks questions and has a crack.

And if "that's not in my " lives in your vocabulary, this one isn't for you.

The team is supportive and collaborative, and they're in a genuine growth phase. You'll report to someone who's been doing this exact job and knows precisely what good looks like.

The salary package is enough to pique anyone's interest The top end is there for someone who knows Employment Hero inside out.

It's office-based, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours between 7:30am and 5:30pm. You can build your day around school pick-ups, the gym or simply beating the traffic.

And there's genuine room to grow. As the business expands, this role is likely to split into dedicated HR or dedicated payroll, with people under you and a bigger pay packet attached. You'll have a real say in which way you go.

Now, this probably isn't an ad for someone desperately trying to escape their current job.

It's for someone who's already doing well.

Your job is fine.

Maybe your team is fine too.

But if something came along offering a role you could build from scratch, real growth and a team that actually wants your ideas, you'd probably listen.

Maybe you weren't looking.

Maybe now you're curious.

And maybe you like the idea that somewhere at the other end of your next pay run is someone checking their phone on payday morning, never once worrying about whether it's right…

If so, lets talk.
