We’re seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join a busy commercial service team, offering the perfect mix of hands-on technical work and office-based responsibilities. This is a excellent opportunity for a technician who still enjoys being on the tools but is ready to develop their skills in scheduling, estimating and service management.
Working closely with the Service Manager and General Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting technicians, coordinating service delivery and ensuring commercial clients across Melbourne Metro receive a high standard of service.
What's on offer?
- A genuine opportunity to transition from the tools into management.
- A varied role combining technical work, office responsibilities and team support.
- Exposure to scheduling, estimating and commercial service operations.
- Direct access to senior management, including the Service Manager and GM.
- A strong pipeline of established commercial service contracts across Melbourne Metro.
- The opportunity to develop your leadership skills and build a long-term career in service management.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position where no two days will look the same. You’ll split your time between supporting the team in the field and helping manage the day-to-day running of the commercial service division. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical support and guidance to HVAC technicians across commercial service contracts.
- Assisting with the coordination and scheduling of technicians across Melbourne Metro.
- Supporting estimating, quoting and scoping of service and maintenance works.
- Assisting with job allocation, service delivery and workload management.
- Attending sites when required to assist with complex breakdowns, diagnostics and technical issues.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients and ensuring service standards are consistently met.
- Working closely with the Service Manager and GM to improve operational efficiency and team performance.
- Gradually developing your capabilities across the broader business, including service management and commercial operations.
About You
We're looking for a technically strong HVAC professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. To be successful, you will have:
- A recognised HVAC/R trade qualification with a minimum of 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience.
- Strong commercial HVAC service and maintenance experience.
- Hands-on experience with VRV/VRF systems, central plant and commercial refrigeration.
- The ability to diagnose complex faults and provide technical support to other technicians.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- An interest in developing your skills in scheduling, estimating and people management.
- The confidence to work autonomously while collaborating with senior management and field teams.
- A dual trade qualification in refrigeration and electrical, or similar, will be highly regarded.
Is This the Right Move for You?
Perhaps you're an experienced Senior HVAC Technician who enjoys the technical side of the trade but is starting to think about what's next.
Maybe you're ready for less time on the tools, more involvement in running a service team and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced management.
This role offers the chance to make that transition without stepping away from the technical side of the industry completely.
If you're ready to take the next step towards HVAC service management, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now for a confidential discussion and find out more about this opportunity. #SCR-midi-hodge-1
