Budget Chalkwest is an Aboriginal-owned, independent Budget franchisee with car and truck rental branches across WA: Belmont, Mandurah, Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Katanning, Carnarvon, Exmouth, Karratha, Newman, Port Hedland, Paraburdoo and Tom Price.

Our small in-house tech team builds our own business systems. We need a hands-on IT person to keep our infrastructure running smoothly, so development work can continue without interruption.

The role

This is a junior, casual role with part-time hours, reporting to the Head of ICT. You’ll take on work assigned by the Head of ICT and be the first point of contact for day-to-day IT issues across our sites. You’ll handle network, device and account problems so they don’t land on the development team. Where you’re new to a system, you’ll get training and support from the Head of ICT.

Some work is remote. Some involves travelling to branches for maintenance, set-ups and updates.

What you’ll do

- Troubleshoot network issues across our sites: internet outages, port forwarding, VPN connections, Wi-Fi and slow links. Work with our ISPs and outside providers when needed.

- Maintain our Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate), including firmware updates, firewall policies, port forwards and remote-access VPN, keeping clear change notes.

- Keep routers, switches, printers and other network devices patched and up to date.

- Administer Microsoft 365: create and remove users, licences, mailboxes, shared mailboxes and MFA. Fix email delivery problems such as quarantine, spam filtering, SPF and SMTP relay.

- Administer Microsoft Entra ID: users, groups, licences, MFA and Conditional Access, password resets, and joining devices to Entra.

- Manage devices through Microsoft Intune: enrolling Windows PCs, compliance and configuration policies, app deployment, and Windows Autopilot for new computers.

- Manage Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac) through Intune and Entra. This covers Apple Business Manager and automated device enrolment, the Apple push certificate (APNs) and its renewal,



company and personal devices, app deployment, and remotely wiping lost devices.

- Set up and support staff computers and phones: Windows set-up, updates, software installs, email signatures and mobile email.

- Set up printers and scanners.

- Manage SSL certificates and DNS records, for example Let’s Encrypt renewals and changes at our domain hosts.

- Look after Windows servers, user access and permissions, and basic backups.

- Set up staff logins for our business systems when people start or change roles.

- Keep a simple record of our IT set-up: sites, devices, IP addresses, providers, and passwords in a password manager.

- Travel to regional branches as needed for on-site maintenance and installs.

What you’ll bring

- At least 1–2 years in an IT support, helpdesk or managed-services role

- Solid networking basics: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT and port forwarding, VPNs and firewall rules

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune for Windows and Apple devices (iOS, iPadOS and macOS), including Windows Autopilot and Apple Business Manager enrolment

- Experience with Windows 10 and 11 and Windows Server
- A methodical approach to troubleshooting: you can work out where a problem actually is and explain it in plain English

- Comfort dealing with ISPs, vendors and non-technical staff
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within WA, sometimes overnight

Nice to have

- FortiGate or other firewall experience (NSE certification is a bonus)

- IIS or web hosting basics, and SSL certificates

- Basic SQL Server knowledge

- Experience with VoIP or phone systems

- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, MD-102, MS-102 or SC-300
