About the Business

Engage Marine is an Australian port operations provider delivering specialised marine services across a range of industries. Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, we have operational bases throughout Australia, including Dampier, Cape Lambert, Carnarvon, Wyndham, Whyalla, Abbot Point, Cairns, Townsville, Port Latta, Sydney and Geelong.

We are currently looking for a permanent Line Boat Deckhand to support our operations in Port Latta. Engage Marine run the Tug, lines boat and ship loading operations at Port Latta, an Iron ore processing and shipping facility located on the North-West coast of Tasmania.

Note: Due to the on-call nature of these positions and the short notice period it is only suitable for people who reside on the NW Coast of Tasmania

About the Role As a Line Vessel Deckhand you will be responsible for performing all duties in line with a General Purpose Hand, including rope handling, assisting with vessel berthing and unberthing operations, maintaining vessel cleanliness, supporting maintenance tasks, and carrying out any other duties as directed by the vessel Master to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the vessel.

The position will be required to:

- Assist with lineboat operations, including line handling, pilot transfers and vessel berthing and departure.
- Support offshore operations, including barge work, mooring maintenance and the transfer of personnel, equipment and materials.
- Carry out general vessel,



equipment and marine infrastructure maintenance.
- Assist with shiploading operations and associated duties as required.
- Participate in planned maintenance, inspections and general upkeep of vessels and equipment.
- Work closely with Skippers, Loadmasters, Pilots and other crew to support safe and efficient operations.
- Complete required operational documentation and report hazards, incidents, near misses and equipment faults in accordance with company procedures.
- Participate in statutory drills, emergency response activities and other safety requirements as directed.

About You

- Minimum qualification: General Purpose Hand (NC) or STCW95 Basic Safety Training.
- Master 5
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a General Purpose Deckhand undertaking similar operations.
- Current MSIC or ability to obtain
- Full working rights in Australia
- Open (unrestricted) driver’s licence
