About the role The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant and equipment maintenance, including preventative maintenance, planned work and unscheduled repairs.
The role operates in a food-production environment where food safety and quality process must be maintained.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance activities safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner to support reliable plant operations.
- Support production teams to achieve operational targets and maintain business continuity.
- Identify and resolve equipment issues to reduce breakdowns and repeat failures.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner, prioritising and escalating critical works appropriately.
- Coordinate maintenance work, including contractors, in line with safety requirements.
- Identify and adhere to preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment safety, efficiency and compliance.
- Maintain a catalogue of critical spare parts to ensure efficient 24hr operations.
- Maintain accurate records within our maintenance management system.
- Knowledge and experience in pneumatics and hydraulics in a production environment.
- General maintenance person skills, ability to work with hardware, tools and power equipment.
- Competency in general repairs and maintenance, i.e. painting and small building repairs.
- Sound understanding of mechanical and machinery works, equipment and fault-finding processes.
- Ability to work autonomously with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem solving and a commitment to safety and safe systems of work.
- A willingness to be adaptable and work across various shifts. This position will require out of normal hours work, including weekends and public holidays.
- Current drivers licence.
