The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing mechanical equipment and machinery. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, diagnosing faults, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, assemble, and commission mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on plant and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and other machinery.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical components.
- Align, fit, and adjust machinery to specified tolerances.
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and workshop equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports accurately.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.




- Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Participate in shutdowns, breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and QualificationsEssential
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, construction, or maintenance environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Desirable
- Confined Space Entry certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Forklift License.
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) License.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience.

Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 38.0 per week
