Disability Support Worker – Community Access | Ryde Area

Casual Position | Ongoing Regular Shifts | 3 Days per Week

Mediplus Nursing Agency is seeking a reliable, experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide one-on-one community access and social support to a client in the Ryde area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others stay active, connected and engaged in their community.

We are looking for a mature, responsible and independent support worker who can build a positive, trusting relationship with the client while promoting their independence and wellbeing.

Position Details

- Location: Ryde area, Sydney NSW
- Employment Type: Casual, with regular ongoing shifts
- Hours: Approximately 8 hours per day, 3 days per week
- Work Type: One-on-one community access and social support
- Transport: A valid driver's licence is essential. Access to your own reliable, insured vehicle is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities This position focuses on community participation and companionship rather than personal care.
- Accompany the client on community outings, including visits to beaches, cafés, shopping centres and other recreational destinations.
- Provide safe and reliable transport to and from activities.
- Encourage social interaction, community participation and independence.
- Offer friendly companionship and emotional support throughout the day.
- Assist the client with planning and participating in enjoyable activities.
- Maintain clear communication with the client's family and Mediplus management.
- Support the client's choices, preferences and individual goals.

Please note: Personal care,



showering, dressing, medication administration and physical transfer assistance are not required for this position.

Essential Requirements

- Previous experience in disability support, community care or a similar role
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- National Police Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Valid Australian driver's licence
- Australian working rights
- Valuable communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable, punctual and committed to regular ongoing shifts

Highly Regarded
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care or a related qualification
- Nursing qualifications or a healthcare background
- Experience supporting people with mild intellectual disabilities
- Own reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- A good understanding of person-centred support and community participation
