People & Culture Business Partner x2
Temporary | Approx. 2–3 months
Melbourne CBD / Inner Melbourne | Hybrid
3 days onsite / 2 days WFH
? Who are we?
We’re partnering with a large, complex Melbourne organisation looking for two experienced People & Culture Business Partners to join its team during one of its busiest periods.
These are immediate temporary opportunities designed to provide extra support while the organisation recruits its longer-term Business Partner team.
You’ll be joining a highly team-oriented P&C; function supporting a workforce of around 15,000 employees, where there is plenty happening across employee relations, workplace change and stakeholder partnering.
The longer-term Business Partner model is becoming increasingly strategic, but for these contracts they need people who are happy to roll up their sleeves, pick up a caseload and make an impact quickly.
? Who are you?
You’re an experienced HR / P&C; Business Partner who doesn’t need weeks to find your feet.
You’ve worked in a large, complex and unionised environment, understand enterprise agreements and are comfortable navigating ER matters with confidence.
Performance management, misconduct, grievances, investigations and change consultation aren’t things you’ve just been exposed to. You’ve actually managed them yourself.
You’ll also be someone who enjoys working as part of a team. This isn’t an environment where everyone disappears into their own caseload. The BPs regularly share cases, discuss approaches and bounce ideas off one another, so collaboration and knowledge-sharing are genuinely valued.
? Day to day
No two days will look exactly the same, but your responsibilities will include:
- Manage employee relations matters and an allocated case portfolio
- Support performance management and misconduct processes
- Conduct and support workplace investigations
- Manage grievances and other workplace matters
- Coach leaders through people issues and difficult conversations
- Interpret and apply enterprise agreements and employment legislation
- Support formal organisational change and consultation processes
- Engage confidently with union delegates and representatives
- Support leaders across operational and corporate stakeholder groups
- Contribute to broader workforce and people initiatives where required
- Work alongside the wider P&C; and Workplace Relations teams on complex matters
? What’s in your toolkit?
Must-haves:
- Previous HR / People & Culture Business Partner experience
- Strong hands-on employee relations capability
- Experience independently managing casework
- Investigations and performance management experience
- Experience working within a unionised environment
- Confidence interpreting enterprise agreements
- Exposure to formal consultation and organisational change
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to hit the ground running in a busy environment
- Comfortable working across both operational and senior stakeholders
Nice-to-haves:
- Public healthcare or broader healthcare experience
- Experience within another large, highly unionised organisation
- Exposure to multiple enterprise agreements
- Previous union consultation experience
- Workforce or succession planning exposure
- SAP / SuccessFactors experience
Public healthcare experience is highly desirable, but it isn’t essential. Transferable experience from environments such as government, education, transport, utilities, logistics or other large EA-driven organisations could work really well.
Why This Role?
- Two vacancies available
- Approx. 2–3 month temporary assignments
- Potential to extend depending on the permanent recruitment process
- Potential pathway into a permanent opportunity for the right person
- Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days WFH
- Monday and Thursday are generally team anchor days
- Work alongside an experienced and collaborative Business Partner team
- Strong exposure to ER, investigations and organisational change
- Support available from an established Workplace Relations function
- Opportunity to join a large, complex environment and make an immediate impact
You may spend a little more time onsite initially while getting set up, learning the environment and building relationships before settling into the standard hybrid rhythm.
If you’re an experienced Business Partner who enjoys complex ER, unionised environments and being close to the action, we’d love to hear from you.
