About the role

As a Project Engineer at Andrew Walter Constructions, you will work under the direction of our Project Managers to deliver a wide variety of civil projects across southern Tasmania, including highways, pipelines, subdivisions and commercial developments. You will look after quality assurance and project tracking, manage defined work packages and develop the technical, commercial and management skills needed to deliver projects successfully. What you'll be doing

- Manage defined work packages, including subcontractors, procurement and construction programming

- Look after quality assurance, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), hold and witness points, test results, conformance records and handover documentation

- Carry out site set-out using GPS and UTS equipment, and complete as-constructed surveys to verify conformance and support project close-out

- Help track project progress, costs, quantities and productivity against budget and program

- Assist with variations, progress claims, subcontractor payments and commercial reporting

- Assist in managing request for information (RFIs), design coordination and technical issues

- Support the Project Manager with project planning, risk management and client communication

- Assist with forecasting and the early identification of cost overruns or scope changes

What we're looking for





- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Project Engineer (or similar role) in civil construction

- Desirable - degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field

- Knowledge of and experience working with Building Tasmania and LGAT standards will be highly regarded

- Sound understanding of quality assurance systems and documentation on civil projects

- Proficient in the use of project management software, ie Procore, MS Project, Word, Excel etc and tools to plan, monitor and report on project progress

- Ability to work independently and use initiative, while knowing when to seek direction from the Project Manager

- Robust organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with clients, subcontractors and internal teams

- Commitment to safety and quality with a good understanding of construction industry regulations, specifications and best practice
