Robert Half is working with a specialist global investment manager operating across sustainable agriculture, food systems and natural capital. Our client invests in businesses and projects addressing food security, climate resilience and environmental sustainability, combining commercial outcomes with measurable environmental and social impact.
As it expands into the Australian carbon market, the organisation is developing large-scale reforestation and carbon sequestration projects designed to generate high-quality Australian Carbon Credit Units while supporting biodiversity and regional communities.
The Role
This is a newly created and foundational opportunity to lead the delivery of our client’s first Australian carbon farming project. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Reforestation Project Manager will oversee the establishment of approximately 1,000 hectares of plantings in the Western Slopes of the Excellent Dividing Range.
The role is highly practical and field-focused, with approximately two-thirds of the position expected to be undertaken in the field. The target landscape for this work is the Western Slopes of the Great Dividing Range and regular travel to the region and extended periods on site will be required.
As an early member of the business, you will also help establish the operational systems, contractor network and stakeholder relationships required to support future large-scale planting programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the initial approximately 1,000-hectare planting program.
- Coordinate and oversee plantation establishment activities across the Northern Tablelands project area.
- Plan project delivery around seasonal, environmental, weather and operational conditions.
- Establish and manage a reliable network of contractors and service providers.
- Oversee outsourced machinery and field operations, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
- Build productive relationships with landholders, contractors, regional stakeholders and project partners.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, quality standards, documentation and reporting requirements.
- Ensure project activities meet relevant carbon farming compliance and regulatory obligations.
- Monitor progress, identify emerging risks and respond to practical field-based challenges.
- Balance hands-on site leadership with project planning, coordination, administration and reporting.
- Develop scalable operational systems and processes to support future carbon projects.
- Contribute to the ongoing expansion of our client’s carbon farming portfolio.
Your Profile You will be a hands-on project management professional with experience in carbon farming, plantation establishment, forestry, land management or a closely related field. You combine practical operational expertise with the ability to coordinate contractors, manage stakeholders and deliver complex projects safely, efficiently and on schedule.
Comfortable working autonomously in a growing and entrepreneurial environment, you are proactive, resilient and highly organised. You bring strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of carbon farming compliance and reporting requirements, and the ability to build credibility with landholders, contractors and regional communities.
Above all, you will be motivated by the opportunity to play a foundational role in a growing carbon farming platform and contribute to projects delivering meaningful climate, biodiversity and community outcomes.
