About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Technician to support a major Australian Defence ICT modernisation program.

This role will contribute to the development, implementation and ongoing support of secure, cyber-hardened Linux infrastructure across complex Defence environments, including deployed and onshore systems.

Working alongside technical architects and engineering teams, you will help deliver reliable, secure and automated infrastructure solutions supporting critical operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Build, configure, maintain and support Linux-based ICT infrastructure.
- Implement Linux security hardening and ensure compliance with Defence security policies.
- Develop and maintain automated infrastructure builds using Ansible and scripting.
- Support virtualised environments, containers and distributed infrastructure.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise Linux systems and associated services.
- Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures and build guides.
- Collaborate with technical architects, security specialists and project stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working as a Linux Technician within Defence.




- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7.x–9.x).
- Experience with Ansible, GitLab, YUM and Elastic Stack (ELK).
- Demonstrated expertise in Linux administration, automation and scripting.
- Experience supporting virtualised servers, hyper-converged infrastructure and containerised environments.
- Strong understanding of Linux security hardening and Defence security compliance.
- Knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Strong troubleshooting, communication and technical documentation skills.
- Current NV2 security clearance – mandatory.

Highly Desirable
- Experience supporting Australian Defence Force deployed environments.
- Knowledge of zero-trust security architecture.
- Familiarity with Navy ICT infrastructure or the SEA2273 Minerva setting.
