Financial Accountant | Renewable Energy | Sydney

A profitable, well-backed renewable energy developer with a significant operating portfolio across Australia is growing its finance team. This is a broad, hands-on role with genuine exposure to multi-entity and joint venture accounting — not a siloed transactional position.

The role covers:

- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (AASBs/IFRS)
- Variance analysis against budget and forecast
- General ledger management, journals, and reconciliations (fixed assets, prepayments, accruals)
- Month-end and year-end close
- BAS, GST, and statutory compliance
- Audit preparation and internal controls support
- JV accounting — tracking cash, AP/AR across joint venture entities and liaising directly with JV partners

What they're looking for:

- Qualified or part-qualified accountant with solid GL experience
- Background in infrastructure, energy, construction, or another project-based industry preferred
- Comfortable managing multiple entities and competing priorities across close cycles
- Familiarity with IFRS/GAAP alongside Australian standards an advantage
- EAP covering employees and direct family members
- Collaborative, low-bureaucracy team culture

Our client is a fast-growing, well-capitalised battery storage and renewables platform, backed by a global infrastructure investor with a multi-billion dollar track record across energy, digital infrastructure and real assets. The business is developing and constructing one of the most active battery storage pipelines in Australia, with projects already through financial close and into construction, alongside a rapidly expanding development book. This is genuine deal flow, not a slow trickle.

About the Role

You'll join a lean, high-ownership Investment team, reporting to the VP who leads it. There's no layer of hierarchy between you and the deals here. From day one, you'll be running financial models, managing live transactions end to end, and working directly with the Development team to build their understanding of bankability and investability as projects mature.

Core responsibilities:

Own and run the financial models that underpin every transaction, from project cashflows to investment analysis
Manage transactions and stakeholders as deals progress, coordinating internal teams, advisers, lenders and investors through to completion
Interface directly with the Development team, upskilling them on bankability and investability

About You

What we're looking for:

Genuine transactional experience in Development or Advisory, with real exposure to live deals rather than purely analytical support
Strong, hands-on financial modelling capability across project cashflows and investment analysis
Experience in infrastructure and renewables, ideally battery storage (BESS). Venture capital backgrounds are less relevant here
A track record of driving your own progression, whether through fast promotion, a secondment, or a deliberate move into energy and climate
Comfort managing stakeholders, internal and external, under pressure and to deadline

What's On Offer

Direct exposure to live transactions across project finance, capital raising and structured finance on one of Australia's fastest-growing battery storage platforms
The chance to work closely with leadership on deals from origination through to Financial Close
A collaborative, high-ownership culture where your work has visible impact on projects shaping Australia's energy future
Competitive base salary plus a significant performance-based bonus
Genuine scope for growth within an international, fast-scaling organisation
