? HIRING: Support Field Infrastructure Engineers (2 Positions)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking two experienced Support Field Infrastructure Engineers to support the Department of Home Affairs in delivering reliable, secure, and efficient ICT infrastructure services.

The successful candidates will provide technical expertise across infrastructure operations, systems design, incident management, infrastructure changes, and data centre support. They will work closely with project managers, technical teams, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure deliverables meet operational requirements, project timelines, and relevant government standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical advice and guidance to project teams and business stakeholders.
- Manage and improve infrastructure availability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate infrastructure projects, technical activities, and change implementations.
- Lead major incident response, recovery activities, and root cause analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and system issues.
- Review and approve technical change activities.
- Support infrastructure architecture, operational design, and technical standards.
- Oversee data centre rack allocation, power utilisation, and cabling activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and project deliverables.




- Transfer technical knowledge to departmental staff and maintain appropriate records.

Essential Skills and Experience Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

✅ Availability and reliability management

✅ ICT infrastructure operations and technical support

✅ Problem management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

✅ Scripting and basic programming/software development

✅ Systems design and infrastructure architecture

✅ Complex infrastructure installation, de-installation, and handover

Desirable Experience

- Data centre management and ICT infrastructure support.
- Infrastructure project design and delivery.
- Resource coordination and accurate effort tracking.
- Working within structured ICT governance and project management frameworks.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth government standards, policies, and procedures.

Working Arrangements Successful candidates must work onsite full time for the first three months , or until they have developed a sufficient understanding of the department's ICT environment and project requirements. Hybrid arrangements may be considered afterward, subject to departmental approval. A minimum of three onsite days per week will apply.
