About the Role

As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day coordination, management and delivery of our commercial fit-out projects.

Working closely with our Head of Commercial Fit-Out, Project Coordinators and office support team, you'll combine hands-on carpentry, site leadership, trade coordination and quality control to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.





This is a varied leadership role where your responsibilities will depend on the size and complexity of each project. On smaller jobs, you'll take a more hands-on approach, while larger projects will require a greater focus on supervising teams, coordinating trades, managing site activities and driving productivity.

We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable picking up the tools when required or taking charge of a busy commercial fit-out site.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading and coordinating carpenters, apprentices, plasterers and other trades on-site

- Managing day-to-day site activities, labour allocation and work sequencing

- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and completing accurate set-out

- Coordinating the installation of partitions, walls, ceilings, bulkheads, doors and hardware

- Overseeing associated fit-out trades, including plastering, aluminium framing and glazing

- Managing material requirements, top-up orders and deliveries to maintain productivity

- Liaising with builders, site managers, subcontractors and TTC's project team

- Monitoring workmanship, quality, safety and site presentation

- Identifying and resolving on-site issues to keep projects moving

- Assisting with site documentation, reporting and project administration

- Undertaking hands-on carpentry work as required, depending on project requirements

Our projects involve a range of commercial carpentry and fit-out packages, including partitions, ceilings, bulkheads, architectural finishes, doors, hardware and glazing.

We take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship on professionally managed projects for some of Melbourne's leading commercial builders.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a reliable, capable and motivated commercial carpenter who takes pride in their trade and knows how to get the best out of a team.

Ideally, you'll have:

- Trade qualification in Carpentry

- Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial carpentry or fit-outs

- Previous leading hand, supervisory or team leadership experience preferred

- Solid knowledge of commercial fit-out construction methods and sequencing

- Experience coordinating carpenters, plasterers and associated fit-out trades

- Confidence reading drawings, completing set-out and organising site works

- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach on-site

- A strong commitment to safety, workmanship and productivity

- Construction White Card, own tools and reliable transport

- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and team-first mindset
