Building Surveyor – Unrestricted | 6-Month Contract
Your new companyWe are working with a number of local councils across the Sydney metro region delivering a broad range of building certification, compliance and development services to the local community. Due to demand and increasing workloads, these Councils are seeking experienced Building Surveyors with unrestricted registration to provide specialist building surveying and certification services on an initial 6-month contract.
Your current roleWorking within Council’s building and development function, you will provide technical expertise across certification, development assessment and compliance matters.Your responsibilities will include:

- Assessing and processing Building Information Certificate applications
- Reviewing road and activity applications, including hoardings, anchors and applications under Section 68 of the Local Government Act
- Assessing Subdivision Certificates, including Linen Plan releases and associated compliance requirements
- Providing specialist building surveying advice on Development Applications
- Reviewing building upgrade requirements, including fire safety and accessibility
- Providing technical advice and recommendations on complex building compliance matters




- Ensuring assessments are completed in line with relevant legislation, regulations and standards

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will have:
- Building Surveyor – Unrestricted registration in NSW, previously A1
- Registration covering all building classes under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018
- Strong knowledge of NSW building certification and compliance requirements
- Experience assessing complex building and development matters
- Previous local government experience would be highly regarded
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear technical advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work autonomously and manage competing assessment priorities
