About Central Steel Build
Central Steel Build designs, manufactures and delivers custom steel building solutions across Australia.
We are looking for a motivated Graduate Accountant to join our Finance team in Kyneton. This is a hands-on opportunity to build practical accounting experience while working across the core financial operations of a growing project-based business.
Reporting to the Finance Lead, you will gain exposure to month-end close, customer billing, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable, compliance and management reporting. You will also work closely with Project Managers, Sales, Procurement and Operations, giving you a strong understanding of how finance supports the broader business.
About the Role
This role would suit a recent Accounting, Finance or Commerce graduate who is ready to turn their studies into practical experience.
You will be supported by an experienced Finance team and provided with a clear development pathway as you build your technical capability across systems including NetSuite, Employment Hero, Excel and Power BI.
There is also the opportunity to progress your CA or CPA studies as part of your professional development.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting month-end close activities including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Assisting with revenue, WIP and project-cost reconciliations
- Raising customer invoices for deposits, progress payments, final claims and variations
- Completing daily bank reconciliations and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing job data and schedules for management reporting
- Supporting accounts payable processing and supplier statement reconciliations
- Assisting with payment runs and ensuring invoices are processed on time
- Preparing supporting schedules for BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT and WorkCover
- Supporting year-end close, audit and banking requests
- Working with Project Managers, Sales, Procurement and Operations to resolve billing and costing queries
- Contributing to finance process improvements, documentation and automation
About You
You are organised, curious and comfortable working with numbers. You take pride in producing accurate work, enjoy solving problems and are willing to ask questions and learn.
You will ideally bring:
- A completed university degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- An interest in pursuing CA or CPA accreditation
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- High attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
- A willingness to learn new systems and processes
- An interest in using technology and AI tools to improve efficiency
- Previous internship, graduate or practical accounting experience is an advantage but not essential
- Experience with NetSuite or another ERP is desirable but not essential
Why Join Central Steel Build?
- Build broad accounting experience rather than being limited to one finance function
- Work closely with an experienced Finance Lead and wider business teams
- Gain practical exposure to month-end, billing, reconciliations and reporting
- Develop your capability across NetSuite, Employment Hero and Power BI
- Follow a transparent pathway toward an Assistant Accountant position
- Join a growing Australian business where continuous improvement is encouraged
If you are ready to begin your accounting career in a role where you can learn, contribute and develop practical experience, we’d love to hear from you.
