About The Company Our client is a well-established boutique law firm with over 15 years' experience, based in Docklands, Melbourne. Their disputes practice focuses on commercial and civil litigation, and as the practice grows, they're seeking an experienced litigator to build and lead their own team.
About The Opportunity The primary purpose of this position is to independently run a commercial and civil litigation caseload from initial instructions through to resolution. This includes appearing as advocate in the Magistrates', County and Supreme Courts and VCAT.
Reporting directly to the
Principal Solicitor , some of your responsibilities will include:
Running a varied caseload across contractual, corporate, insolvency and property disputes
Appearing as advocate in directions hearings, interlocutory applications and mediations
Drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions and advices to a high standard
Acting as primary client contact and developing recent referral relationships
Supervising, training and developing junior lawyers, graduates and paralegals
About You The successful candidate will have:
Admission to practice in Victoria with a current practising certificate
Approximately 8-10+ years' PQE, substantially in commercial and civil litigation
Demonstrated advocacy experience in the Magistrates', County and Supreme Courts and VCAT
Proven ability to run a caseload autonomously with strong drafting and negotiation skills
Sound commercial judgement and confidence holding client relationships directly
