Role Description The Bricklaying and Blocklaying Apprentice role is an in office position based in Brisbane, QLD. The apprentice will assist qualified bricklayers with preparing materials, mixing mortar, laying bricks and blocks, and helping construct walls and other structures to specification. Daily tasks include setting out work areas, using hand and power tools under supervision, maintaining a clean and safe job site, and learning to read basic plans and measurements.

The role involves working outdoors on commercial projects,



collaborating with a small team, and following all safety procedures. This apprenticeship provides structured training and on-the-job learning to develop skills and progress toward trade qualification in bricklaying and blocklaying.

Qualifications

- Interest in learning bricklaying and blocklaying techniques, including accurate measuring, setting out, and laying bricks and blocks to required standards.
- Basic practical skills and comfort using hand and power tools, with a focus on safe work practices and attention to detail.
- Ability to work reliably in an outdoor, physical environment, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to take direction from qualified tradespeople and supervisors.
- Commitment to a gender-inclusive, respectful work environment and openness to supporting diverse colleagues.
- Reliable transport to Brisbane job sites and willingness to work standard construction hours.
- Completion or progress toward a relevant pre-apprenticeship, White Card (construction induction), or similar safety training is an advantage.
- Motivation to build a long-term career in the construction sector and complete a formal bricklaying qualification.
