D’Arcy Weil is recruiting a Junior Energy Trader, Generation & Dispatch on behalf of a major renewable energy business. The Brisbane-based role sits on the trading desk and builds hands-on market experience while helping optimise a renewable portfolio, including:

- Managing the dispatch of generation assets within market rules and commercial goals, and executing trades across the NEM
- Helping shape trading strategies that lift portfolio returns, and responding as market conditions move
- Studying price signals, trends and industry developments to inform trading decisions and pricing models
- Preparing operational and financial forecasts for planning, budgeting and performance tracking
- Learning from experienced traders and market specialists while improving the desk’s tools and processes

It suits a numerate, curious early-career professional who wants to learn the NEM on a live desk and is motivated by putting more clean energy into the grid.

The Role

- Dispatch and trading: Manage the dispatch of generation assets in line with market rules and commercial objectives, and carry out trading activity across the National Electricity Market
- Strategy development: Help design and refine trading strategies that maximise portfolio returns, and act on commercial opportunities as conditions change
- Market analysis: Study price signals, market trends and industry developments to inform trading decisions and support pricing models
- Forecasting: Prepare accurate operational and financial forecasts that feed planning,



budgeting and performance management for the trading function
- Collaboration: Work with trading colleagues and market specialists to pursue opportunities and adapt quickly to a fast-moving market
- Process improvement: Help develop the desk’s trading processes, analytical tools and working practices

About You

- A degree in economics, commerce, mathematics, finance or a related discipline
- Some experience in energy market trading, wholesale electricity or financial trading environments
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and support commercial decisions
- A sound grasp of energy market fundamentals and emerging sector trends
- Commercial judgement
- Experience with trading systems, forecasting tools and quantitative analysis techniques
