About the role

You'll give directors a clear view of how each business is performing, upcoming financial commitments and the actions needed to improve profitability and cash flow. You'll be comfortable investigating a reconciliation discrepancy, building a cash-flow forecast and discussing labour costs with a venue manager. You'll own reporting deadlines, identify issues early and follow through on agreed actions.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing weekly venue and group performance reports and monthly management accounts.

- Maintaining rolling 13-week cash-flow forecasts and monitoring upcoming payments and liabilities.

- Analysing sales, labour, food and beverage costs, margins and operating expenses against budgets and prior periods.

- Working with venue managers and chefs to improve purchasing, stock control, labour planning and profitability.

- Managing BAS preparation and lodgement, GST, PAYG withholding, payroll tax and superannuation obligations, supported by external advisers where required.

- Overseeing payroll accuracy, accounts payable, receivables and the offshore accounts team.

- Completing bank, balance-sheet, loan, credit card, intercompany and POS settlement reconciliations.

- Leading budgets, forecasts and financial modelling for operational changes and potential acquisitions.

- Improving financial systems, reporting automation and processes across the group.

- Presenting clear recommendations and holding teams accountable for agreed actions.

About you

- Experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Financial Controller or in a similar commercial finance role.

- Experience working across multiple entities, venues or business units.

- Hospitality, retail or another high-volume transaction industry background.

- Strong cash-flow forecasting, management reporting and reconciliation skills.

- Practical knowledge of Australian tax, payroll and statutory obligations, including BAS preparation and lodgement.

- Solid Xero and Excel or Google Sheets skills.

- Experience supervising an accounts team.

- The ability to explain financial results clearly and turn them into operational improvements.

- A proactive approach, attention to detail and reliable follow-through.

- An accounting, finance, business or related degree is preferred. CA or CPA qualifications, or progress towards them, will be highly regarded.
