Key responsibilities
- Provide short term counselling and support for clients who have been assessed to be at moderate to high risk of suicide, who have attempted suicide or display self-harming behaviours.
- Develop detailed safety plans in collaboration with clients following appropriate risk assessments.
- Perform initial intake assessment/program triage function as required.
- Assist with facilitation or co-facilitation of group programs as required.
- Be able to respond to active clients who may be in crisis situations.
Key selection criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology.
- Full registration as a Registered/Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated significant experience working with clients with mental health & psychosocial conditions including those at risk of suicide.
- Highly developed knowledge & skills in assessment and counselling.
- Provisional psychologists with experience in mental health, private practice & suicide support will be considered.
