Are you a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter who enjoys fault finding, getting machinery back up and running, and preventing problems before they happen?
We’re recruiting a Maintenance Fitter to join an established, high-speed can manufacturing operation in Dandenong. This is a permanent opportunity where your mechanical skills will play a key role in keeping production running safely, efficiently and reliably.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on maintenance role offering a mix of preventative maintenance, breakdown response, mechanical repairs and continuous improvement. Working closely with production operators and the wider maintenance team, you’ll help minimise downtime, improve equipment reliability and maintain production targets.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and responding to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Dismantling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling machinery and mechanical components.
- Maintaining mechanical systems, including conveyors, motors, pumps, compressors and pneumatic systems.
- Supporting equipment modifications, installations and reliability improvements.
- Investigating recurring faults and contributing to root cause analysis.
- Identifying opportunities to improve plant performance, equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
- Working alongside production operators to support line performance when required.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring a safe, clean and organised work environment.
What we're looking for
You'll be a practical,
solutions-focused tradesperson who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of keeping a production line operating safely and efficiently.
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
- Maintenance Trade Certificate.
- Experience in manufacturing, preferably within a high-speed or continuous production environment.
- A solid background in preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and mechanical fault finding.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors and air systems.
- The ability to assess problems, prioritise repairs and work effectively under production pressure.
- A robust commitment to workplace safety, product quality and continuous improvement.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a broader maintenance and production team.
Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and maintenance management systems would also be advantageous.
Why consider this opportunity?
- Permanent employment with an established manufacturing operation.
- Strong earning potential through the base rate & overtime
- A varied mechanical maintenance role where no two shifts are necessarily the same.
- The opportunity to take ownership of equipment reliability and contribute ideas for improvement.
- A collaborative environment working closely with production and maintenance colleagues.
- The chance to apply your trade in a fast-paced, technically challenging manufacturing setting.
Interested?
