Amity Health is seeking a passionate and community-minded Food Action Community Worker to support the delivery of the Food Action Group Project across the Great Southern and Southern Wheatbelt.

Working as part of an innovative community development project, you will provide administration and project support to the Food Action Development Officer, helping to strengthen community partnerships, support local leadership and contribute to practical, community-led solutions to food insecurity.

This is a rewarding chance to work behind the scenes and alongside communities to support local action and contribute to lasting change across regional Western Australia.

About the Food Action Project

The Food Action Group Project is a three-year pilot initiative funded by Healthway through the WA State Government and delivered by Amity Health in partnership with Edith Cowan University's Food Action Group Project. The project aims to improve access to healthy, affordable and locally available food across the Great Southern and Southern Wheatbelt.

Working alongside community leaders, Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, government, food retail and food relief partners, the project supports community-led action to strengthen food access, improve local food systems, encourage nutrition, cooking and gardening initiatives, and build sustainable local skills and capacity.

About the Role

This is a project support and coordination role that assists with the delivery of regional food security initiatives and community-led action across participating communities.

Working closely with the Food Action Development Officer and key stakeholders, you will provide administrative, operational and project support to ensure the successful implementation of project activities, stakeholder engagement and reporting requirements.

- Support the development and maintenance of positive relationships with community members,

partner organisations and key stakeholders.
- Assist with communications and stakeholder engagement activities to encourage collaboration and participation in food security initiatives.
- Maintain project records, databases, documentation and reporting systems.
- Support the delivery of advocacy, training and capacity-building activities that strengthen local food systems and community networks.
- Represent the project at community meetings and events when required, promoting awareness of food security initiatives and partnership opportunities.

This role is available on a part-time basis, 11.4 hours per week, and is based in the Southern Wheatbelt. We are flexible on location and welcome applications from candidates based across the Wheatbelt region. Regular travel to participating communities across the Southern Wheatbelt is an essential requirement of the role.
