D'Arcy Weil is recruiting an Associate on behalf of a leading Australian law firm with a strong financial services client base. Based in Sydney or Brisbane, the role offers hands-on exposure to recoveries, insolvency and commercial disputes, including:

- Pursuing debt recovery and security enforcement for banks and other lenders
- Advising on and running insolvency-related matters
- Taking commercial disputes from first instruction to final outcome
- Drafting pleadings and appearing in court with growing independence
- Working directly with senior lawyers and client contacts to find workable solutions

It suits a litigator who is drawn to the credit and insolvency end of disputes work, wants early carriage of matters and does well in a team that shares what it knows.

The Role

- Debt recovery: Act for lenders and other financial institutions on recoveries, advising on the options available and recommending the most practical path
- Insolvency: Advise on insolvency-related matters, including enforcement against distressed borrowers and dealings with external administrators
- Disputes: Run commercial disputes from first instruction through to settlement or judgment
- Drafting: Prepare pleadings, advices, letters of demand and supporting documents
- Advocacy: Appear in court and tribunal matters, and support senior lawyers at mediations, conferences and hearings
- Client contact: Build relationships with client contacts through quick, commercially focused advice




- Team contribution: Share knowledge with colleagues and help the practice develop

About You

- 2–4 years PQE in recoveries, commercial litigation, disputes or insolvency, gained at a well-regarded firm
- A explicit interest in lending-side recoveries and insolvency work
- Sound analytical ability, with the discipline to run a busy caseload to deadline
- Polished drafting and confident advocacy
- A cooperative style and a service-minded approach to clients
