D’Arcy Weil is recruiting an Associate, Insurance Litigation on behalf of a leading Australian law firm acting for major insurance clients. The Sydney-based role takes matters through the full litigation cycle, including:

- Preparing coverage and quantum advices
- Investigating claims and reviewing subpoenaed material
- Preparing and filing court process documents
- Attending applications before state and specialist tribunals
- Supporting senior practitioners through pre-trial processes and proceedings

It suits a litigator who thrives under pressure, keeps multiple time-sensitive matters under control and wants meaningful court exposure early in their career.
The Role

- Coverage and quantum advice: Draft advices on coverage and quantum for clients across a broad range of insurance matters
- Claims investigation: Conduct thorough factual investigations; review and advise on expert evidence and subpoenaed material
- Court documents: Prepare and file court process documents across the full range of interlocutory and final hearing steps
- Court and tribunal work: Attend applications and hearings before state courts and specialist tribunals, working alongside senior practitioners
- Pre-trial processes: Attend and assist at conferences, mediations and proceedings as matters progress toward hearing
- Research and currency: Undertake legal research and maintain awareness of developments in insurance law and practice
- Team and client engagement:



Work productively with internal and external parties; build and maintain strong working relationships with clients

About You

- 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in insurance litigation; general litigation backgrounds also considered
- Robust research, writing and analytical capability
- Able to operate effectively in a demanding, deadline-driven practice
- Experienced juggling multiple time-sensitive matters
- A team-first approach and genuine appetite for development
- Collegial and committed
