Senior Cost Manager – MEP / Building Services

The Chance An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Cost Manager specialising in MEP / Building Services to join a highly regarded global cost and project management consultancy in Sydney.

Working alongside experienced, collaborative teams, you’ll support the delivery of complex construction projects across a diverse range of sectors, with a particular focus on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support pre- and post-contract cost management activities across MEP and building services packages.
- Prepare and review cost plans, estimates, tender documentation and commercial reports.
- Manage the tender process, including reviewing submissions, analysing costs and providing recommendations to clients.
- Assess variations, contractual claims and changes to scope, ensuring commercial risks and cost implications are clearly communicated.
- Monitor project expenditure, prepare valuations and maintain accurate cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage contract administration processes, including purchase orders, approvals, payment assessments and contractual correspondence.
- Work closely with project managers, design consultants, engineers, contractors and clients to ensure cost, programme and quality objectives are achieved.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering, cost optimisation and improved commercial outcomes across building services packages.
- Provide clear, timely reporting on project costs, financial performance, risks and potential budget impacts.




- Build and maintain robust client relationships, supporting repeat business and the continued growth of the consultancy.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- Proven experience in a Cost Management or Quantity Surveying role within a construction consultancy or complex construction environment.
- Solid experience across MEP / Building Services packages, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services.
- Experience delivering pre- and post-contract cost management on complex building projects.
- A sound understanding of procurement, tender analysis, contract administration, variations, valuations and cost reporting.
- The ability to interpret technical documentation, assess commercial risks and provide practical cost advice.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with clients and senior project stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and project requirements.
- A collaborative, proactive approach and a genuine interest in building long-term client relationships.
