With a focus on safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery, Norwest Group supports a range of civil and construction operations and is seeking an experienced Loader Operator to join its team in Karratha, WA.

About the Role
The Loader Operator will be responsible for operating front-end loaders and associated mobile plant to support civil construction, earthmoving, and material-handling activities. The role involves loading, transporting, and distributing materials across project sites, assisting with site preparation, and maintaining safe and efficient plant operations in line with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate front-end loaders to load, move, stockpile, and distribute soil, gravel, sand, rock, and other construction materials across project sites.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and operational checks to identify mechanical issues, equipment defects, or safety concerns before commencing work.
- Position and manoeuvre loaders safely around work areas, stockpiles, trucks, and other mobile equipment to support daily construction activities.
- Adjust bucket positioning, lifting height, and machine movements to ensure accurate loading, material placement, and efficient handling.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, truck drivers, and other plant operators to maintain an effective workflow and minimise delays.
- Follow site plans, grade indicators, work instructions,



and directions from supervisors to complete earthmoving and material-handling tasks accurately.
- Monitor ground conditions, site access, and surrounding activities to identify hazards and maintain safe operating distances from personnel and equipment.
- Assist with site preparation, ground levelling, stockpile management, and general earthworks as required by project schedules.
- Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication, refuelling, and basic maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with operational procedures.
- Report equipment faults, maintenance requirements, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly to the relevant supervisor.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental controls, traffic management procedures, and company policies.

Essential Requirements

- Relevant experience operating front-end loaders in civil construction, earthmoving, mining, or similar environments.
- Demonstrated ability to operate mobile plant safely and efficiently in active construction or industrial work sites.
- Sound understanding of plant pre-start inspections, operational safety procedures, and basic equipment maintenance.
- Ability to follow site instructions, work plans, and directions from supervisors.
- Good awareness of workplace hazards, mobile plant interactions, and safe material-handling practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a site-based team.
- Valuable communication, reliability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence or the ability to obtain one.
- Relevant plant operator competency, licence, or certification where required for the equipment and duties performed.
