About the role

As a volunteer companion at Churches of Christ, you'll provide meaningful support to older residents in our aged-care facility in Brisbane. Your role is to spend time with residents, listen to their stories, and help create a sense of community through companionship and social engagement.

What you'll do

- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents

- Help organise and lead recreational activities, outings and social events

- Assist with non-clinical daily care tasks such as serving meals and helping with hobbies

- Maintain confidentiality and respect resident privacy at all times

What we're looking for

- Compassion and genuine care for older adults

- Good communication and listening skills

- Reliability and commitment to regular volunteer shifts

- Ability to perform light physical tasks and engage with residents

- Flexibility, patience and a positive attitude
