About the role

Reporting to the Workshop Leading Hand, you will be a valued member of the team assisting in the maintenance and repair of our fleet of approximately 190 vehicles. All duties will be under supervision unless otherwise directed, and appropriate to your level of experience and training received. Duties will require you working with hand tools, plant machinery and equipment.

Key responsibilities

- Assist mechanic with carrying out servicing in line with CDC's routine vehicle service schedule
- Carry out repairs (stitching) and replace passenger seats
- Pick up and drop off parts to/from depots/suppliers/breakdowns
- Perform morning daily checks on buses (oils, coolant, belts)
- Carry out weekly service on the wash pad/water oil separator
- Cleaning and maintenance of wash pad area
- Move buses around the yard for contractors
- Carry out diagnostic testing and repair as required (specifically NEC)
- Investigate and carry out basic defect repairs identified by drivers, where possible
- Assisting with the management of parts stock and inspections

About you

- Awareness of the requirements of a vehicle maintenance workshop setting
- Some knowledge of electrical and mechanical components of a vehicle




- Understanding of WHS in a workshop
- Previous workshop experience is desirable but not essential, with preference given to candidates with at least 2 years' experience, particularly working with heavy vehicles
- A forklift licence and other vocational trade qualifications will be looked upon favorably
