Our client is a highly regarded Accounting Business Advisory firm that's multiple award-winning, with offices throughout Queensland. The firm is forward thinking and recognised for their accounting excellence, and expertise in the business advisory space, as well as strong ties to their local community across QLD. Our client is hunting for an experienced public practice Accountant that wants to go well beyond compliance accounting and provide proactive accounting and business advice, through structured reporting, coaching, and ongoing support to SME clients.

This Senior Advisor Accountant role is a fantastic prospect for an Accountant that genuinely enjoys going above and beyond to provide high level accounting and advisory support on a more personalised level to small business owners and empowering your clients to better understand their numbers.

The Advisory role suits a commercially minded,



knowledgeable Australian based accountant who goes beyond the numbers and asks the right questions to drive real business outcomes for their clients.

What's Can you Expect?

Are you ready to take on a leadership role with direct mentoring from senior leadership and work with highly experienced Accountants? This role suits a dynamic CPA or CA accounting seeking more client relationship responsibility and meaningful advisory work with established business clients. Salary on offer is up to $145k + super. Must be based in Cairns or looking at relocating to Cairns from within Queensland. Relocation package may be considered for applicant that closely meets position criteria.

What you can expect to be doing on a daily, weekly and monthly basis:

- Preparing financial statements, tax returns, GST and tax planning
- Leading client meetings and taking ownership of client relationships
- Interpreting and explaining financial results to business owners
- analysing cashflow, pricing, margins and profitability
- looking beyond numbers into positioning, systems and culture
- turning financial insights into practical, actionable advice
- developing long-term relationships with advisory-focused clients

Essential Criteria & Qualifications

Min. 4 years Australian public practice accounting experience from mid tier accounting firms ideally

CA or CPA qualification or near completion by the end of 2026 - essential!

Strong technical accounting and Australian business tax knowledge- essential

Confidence consulting and advising with business owners

Appreciation of a modern, sophisticated, technology-driven and paperless firm

Commercially minded with a proactive, accountable approach

Xero, XPM, FYI, Excel and digital workflow system proficiency required

Management reporting tools and AI tool experience highly regarded .

Full Australian working rights required. This is a full time, ongoing permanent position.
