Help! Dos the Legend moved to Townsville and left a sparky-shaped hole in our crew

Dos was quick, efficient, and could turn his hand to pretty much anything. We’re happy for him, but the smoko table’s too quiet and someone has to take his spot. Could it be you?

Who are we? We’re a family-owned electrical business based in Cairns, and we’ve built our name on quality work, doing things safely, and a down-to-earth crew who enjoy coming to work. We run two brands:

CEI (Crichton Electrical & Instrumentation) does our commercial and industrial work, on everything from retail, water treatment plants and fuel terminals

CEA Energy & Air looks after air-con and residential, from switchboard upgrades to keeping North Queensland cool

We’re all about growth, yours and ours. We want an electrician who cares about building their career as much as we care about doing the job right. If you want to be part of a crew that values valuable work, looks out for each other and knows how to have a laugh along the way, you’ll fit right in.

Why you’ll like it here

Be part of something bigger: we’re a close-knit team and every person counts. Your ideas and input shape how we grow and how we do the work.

Room to grow: this is a career with a future, not just a job. We want people who are keen to take on new challenges and grow with us across both brands.

Variety: residential and air-con through CEA, plus commercial and industrial service work through CEI. You won’t be bored.

Project work: get stuck into installs and upgrades, and see jobs through from first cable to final test.

Always learning: ongoing training, regular toolbox sessions, and room to pick up new skills, whether that’s air-con, hazardous areas or instrumentation.

Supportive, down-to-earth culture: we look after our people. It feels more like family than a workplace, and you’ll always have backup when you need it.

A 9-day fortnight: every second Friday is yours. Fishing, anyone?

A great bunch of blokes who back each other,

do the job right and know how to have a laugh.

The role We’re after a qualified electrician who loves variety and is happy working across both service and project work. One day you might be doing maintenance or sorting out a breakdown, and the next you could be installing recent gear or knee-deep in a project. Some weeks you’ll move between sites and tasks, and other weeks you’ll see one job through from start to finish.

What you’ll get stuck into

Electrical installations, upgrades and scheduled maintenance across residential, commercial and industrial sites

Fault-finding and breakdowns to keep essential systems running

Testing and verifying installations so everything is safe, compliant and certified

Project work, from rough-in through to commissioning and handover

Keeping jobs organised and on track by updating simPRO as you go (notes, photos, test results, all of it)

Working with a supportive crew that values good communication and looking out for each other

Regular training sessions and toolbox meetings to sharpen your skills and stay on top of industry standards

What you need

A current, unrestricted QLD electrical licence

White Card, plus current LVR & CPR, because safety comes first

A full driver’s licence and Australian Permanent Residency

Solid experience with installs, testing and fault-finding, and the habit of isolating and testing before you touch anything

The ability to work on your own and as part of a team

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Bonus points (nice to have, not deal-breakers)

A/C tick (ARCtick refrigerant licence). The CEA side would love you

Hazardous areas (HA) ticket

Commercial or industrial experience

simPRO experience, EWP ticket, HRW licence

What’s in it for you

A 9-day fortnight, because we believe in work-life balance

Overtime opportunities and wage incentives

Company uniform supplied

Ongoing professional development and real career progression

A supportive, family-oriented workplace that respects your time

Working every day with a bunch of absolute legends (Dos approved)
