Bus Mechanic & Driver Tour Guide – Hybrid Role, 38 Hrs Guaranteed
Urban Legends Tour Co. | 1 Position | Full Time, 38 Hours Guaranteed
Caringbah, Sutherland Shire | $40–$65/hr + super, higher for significant experience | Workshop + On the road
You're a qualified mechanic who knows heavy diesel inside out, and you also love being out on the road with people. Most jobs make you choose. This one doesn't.
We're looking for one serious, skilled person to look after our luxury fleet and drive our premium tours and transfers 1–2 days a week. Think of it as a genuine hybrid: the workshop keeps our fleet legendary, and the road keeps your week interesting.
About Urban Legends
Australia's premium fully integrated tour operator and bus charter company. Not a booking platform, not brokers, not a call centre. We own our modern luxury fleet, employ professional driver-guides who know the regions, and design every tour in-house.
10+ years running | 190+ five-star reviews | Fully accredited & insured
Wine tours with exclusive seated tastings, brewery crawls with behind-the-scenes access, weddings, corporate events, festivals, school and government work. Our clients include the Royal Australian Navy, private schools, corporate sponsors, VIPs and boutique wineries we have exclusive partnerships with.
Our fleet (the vehicles you'll look after)
14-Seater Mercedes Sprinter VIP
18-Seater Mercedes Sprinter Luxury
27-Seater Yutong D7 Executive (2024)
2× 41-Seater Luxury Coaches, King Long and Bonluck (2024)
A modern, well-kept fleet that we're proud of, and we want someone who takes the same pride in keeping it that way.
Your workshop (help us build it)
We have a garage at our Caringbah depot, stocked with basic tools. It's ready to work in, but it isn't finished. We want the right person to help shape and develop it into a proper in-house workshop: what tools and equipment we need, how it's set up, and how we run servicing across the fleet. If you've ever wanted a say in building a workshop your way, this is it.
Bring your own tools?
A tool allowance is available.
Don't have a full kit?
Tools can be supplied.
What you'll do
In the workshop (most of your week)
Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance across the fleet
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
Brakes, suspension, cooling, air systems, sensors and general repairs
Minor body work and repairs to keep the fleet looking premium
Pre-trip and periodic inspections, defect rectification and keeping maintenance records accreditation-ready
Sourcing parts and working with dealers and specialists when a job needs it
Spotting problems early so a bus never lets a group down
On the road (1–2 days a week, more in peak season if you want it)
Wine and brewery tours: Hunter Valley, Southern Highlands, Blue Mountains, South Coast
Events, weddings, corporate groups, festivals and airport transfers
You're the host, not just the driver: welcome guests, set the vibe, escort groups into venues and solve problems on the go
Music on board is part of the experience (guests Bluetooth their playlists)
What you'll earn
Starting rates:
Weekdays: $40–$45/hr + super
Saturdays: $55/hr + super
Sundays: $65/hr + super
38 hours a week guaranteed, full time
Multi-day trips: hotel accommodation paid plus $35 meal allowance per day
Tool allowance if you bring your own tools (or we supply them)
Significant experience? We'll pay above these rates.
These are starting rates, not a ceiling. If you bring significant mechanical experience on buses, coaches or heavy diesel vehicles, and can show it, we will pay above the rates listed. Tell us what you've worked on and what you're after, and we'll talk.

Genuine willingness to get your hands dirty: servicing, repairs, maintenance and body work
Who you are
Takes real pride in their work. A clean, safe, reliable bus is a point of personal pride for you
Practical problem-solver: you find the fault, fix it properly and don't leave loose ends
Reliable and self-driven. You'll often be working on your own, so we need to trust you completely
A people person on the road: positive, professional and great with groups
Keen to grow with a small, high-performing team
Guaranteed hours:
38 hours a week, full time, so you can plan your life
Variety:
no two weeks the same, with workshop days and days at incredible venues
Premium brand:
modern fleet, high-end clients, a business you'll be proud of
A team of A-players:
positive, professional people who pull their weight
Your expertise rewarded:
you'll be the person the fleet depends on, and significant experience earns above our starting rates
Build the workshop:
a real say in developing our in-house workshop, plus a tool allowance for your own kit
Reliable applicants only
This is a key role and we're not rushing it. We'd rather take our time and find the right person than fill the seat quickly. Applications without the following won't be considered:
Applications without the following won't be considered:
