The Role

Reporting to the Manager StrategicPlanning you will be responsible for providing heritage and techincal conservation advice onbehalf of Council to internal and external stakeholders. The role will be pivotal in leading Counciland the Community in heritage conservation through developing, coordinating andimplementing Council’s Heritage Strategy, as well as assessing development applications and managing thepreparation of heritage policies and strategies.

About You

You will be motivated and passionate about heritage andconservation with demonstrated experience applying heritage conservationprinciples and have well developed research and analytical skills with theability to resolve complex heritage issues. You will have excellent communicationskills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders onheritage and conservation matters.

- Tertiary qualification in heritageconservation, architecture, town or urban planning,



urban design, or a relateddiscipline.
- Experience preparing or assessing heritagesignificance assessment and heritage impact assessments.
- Sound Knowledge of the Environmental Planningand Assessment Act 1979, the Heritage Act 1977 and other legislation,regulation and guidelines relevant to heritage conservation in NSW.
- Experience preparing reports, briefings andcorrespondence on complex development matters and monitoring developmentoutcomes
- High Level verbal and written communicationskills
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Work in NSW
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Successful applicants will be required toundergo background (police) checks and medical declaration
- Postgraduate qualification in heritageconservation, architecture, town or urban planning, urban design, or a relateddiscipline
- Membership of, or eligibility for membershipof, a relevant professional body such as Australia ICOMOS, the PlanningInstitute of Australia or the Australian Institute of Architects
- Experience collecting and preparing evidencefor legal proceedings
