Teacher and Team Leader – Secondary Students

The College is seeking applications from qualified teachers registered with the Queensland College of Teachers for this permanent position commencing January 2027.

The Team Leader – Secondary Students has a major responsibility to:

Provide leadership in the innovation, development, implementation and evaluation of the pastoral and wellbeing programs from Years 7 – 12.

Ensure the College’s programs and practices in pastoral care, personal development, social justice, behaviour, character formation, service, and faith development empower staff and students to recognise, understand, and live out the Catholic and MSC ethos of the College.

Ensure that the College’s services for its students are supported by all members of the Downlands community.

The Team Leader – Secondary Students will:

Collaborate with the Assistant Principal – Mission to ensure the alignment of the Personal Development Program [PDP] with the College’s MSC ethos and charism

Align all practices of student development to the College’s MSC ethos and charism

Nurture a College culture characterised by life-giving relationships, gentleness, humility and affirmation.

Lead, support and direct staff in behaviour management practices and procedures which supports the engagement and behaviour of all students ensuring that they meet college expectations.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Pastoral Care Team,



specifically House Coordinators and Year Leaders, to ensure consistent practice, robust collaboration, and alignment with the College’s executive vision, strategic plan, and wellbeing policies.

Actively lead, engage with and support student leadership development and processes in the College

Lead, review and refine Pastoral Care and Wellbeing operations and processes in consultation with Assistant Principal Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

Be conversant with the requirements of authorised State and National educational bodies.

Provide quality information to parents and carers with respect to student outcomes through a variety of media.

There is also an expectation that the successful candidate would be actively involved in the College Co-curricular program.

Salary - $86,600 – 124,724 per annum plus super and Middle Leadership Tier 3C (22,791)
