Turn data into better decisions, stronger supply chains and real commercial results. About APS APS Adelaide Profile Services is a leading South Australian steel processing and advanced manufacturing company, servicing some of Australia's most demanding industries, including Defence, Mining, Infrastructure, Transport and Renewable Energy.

Established in 1982, APS has built a solid reputation for manufacturing excellence, precision steel processing and reliable project delivery. Our capabilities include laser, plasma, oxy and waterjet cutting, large-scale pressing and rolling, CNC machining and steel project management. With an extensive steel inventory, strong domestic and international supplier relationships, and a growing customer base, we are continually investing in smarter systems, better processes and operational efficiency.

About the Role We are seeking a commercially minded, analytical and proactive Supply Chain Analyst to help optimise our purchasing, inventory management, supplier performance and logistics operations. Working closely with our Purchasing & Materials, Operations, Scheduling, Logistics and Finance teams, you will analyse supply chain performance, identify opportunities for improvement and provide meaningful insights that support better business decisions.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact within a dynamic manufacturing environment, where your recommendations can directly influence costs, efficiency, inventory investment and customer delivery performance. This is not simply a purchasing or administrative role. We are looking for someone who can turn complex data into practical improvements.

Key Responsibilities Supply Chain Analysis & Optimisation Analyse purchasing, inventory, supplier, production and logistics data to identify inefficiencies, trends and cost-saving opportunities.

Evaluate supply chain performance and recommend improvements to processes, workflows and resource allocation. Develop reports, dashboards and performance indicators to support operational and management decision-making.

Identify supply chain bottlenecks and recommend improvements to lead times, service levels and operational efficiency.

Inventory Management & Forecasting Analyse steel inventory levels, consumption patterns, stock movements and purchasing requirements. Develop inventory forecasting models using historical demand, customer orders and anticipated production requirements.

Recommend optimal stockholding levels, reorder points and purchasing strategies. Identify slow-moving inventory, excess stock and opportunities to improve stock turnover and working capital. Investigate inventory discrepancies and support improvements to stock accuracy and traceability.

Procurement & Supplier Performance Analyse domestic and international supplier pricing, lead times, reliability and purchasing trends. Evaluate total landed costs, including material pricing, freight, foreign exchange exposure and associated import expenses.

Monitor supplier performance against agreed delivery, quality and cost expectations. Support supplier evaluation, sourcing strategies and supply continuity planning. Identify purchasing efficiencies and opportunities to reduce overall procurement costs.

Logistics, Risk & Continuous Improvement Analyse inbound freight, shipping, transport and distribution performance to identify cost and efficiency improvements. Review supply chain risks, including material shortages, supplier disruptions, shipping delays and changing market conditions.

Develop recommendations and contingency strategies to improve supply chain resilience. Work with internal stakeholders to implement approved process improvements. Support improvements to ERP systems, reporting accuracy, material master data and information management.

About You You are a detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys working with numbers,

understanding business processes and identifying better ways of doing things.

Ideally, you will bring: A qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Analytics, Commerce, Engineering or a related discipline. Previous experience in supply chain analysis, inventory analysis, procurement analytics or operational performance improvement.

Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving capabilities. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, data analysis and modelling. Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex information clearly. A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and implementing improvements.

Highly regarded, but not essential: Experience in manufacturing, steel, engineering or heavy industry. Exposure to international procurement, imports and freight logistics.

Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL or similar analytical tools. Knowledge of demand forecasting, inventory optimisation and supply chain KPIs. Why Join APS?

Make a real impact: Your analysis and recommendations will directly influence business performance. Diverse responsibilities: Gain exposure to local and international procurement, manufacturing, inventory management and logistics. Established Australian business: Join a respected South Australian manufacturer with more than 40 years of industry experience.

Work alongside experienced professionals: Collaborate across purchasing, operations, scheduling, finance and management. Opportunity to grow: Contribute to ongoing systems development, process improvement and future business initiatives. We offer a professional and collaborative working environment, competitive remuneration based on experience, and the opportunity to play an important role in our continued development.

How to Apply If you enjoy analysing data, improving processes and delivering practical commercial outcomes, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and how you could contribute to APS's supply chain performance.

Join APS and help shape a smarter, stronger supply chain.
