About the role

Hardchrome Engineering Services is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice Fitter & Turner to join our team in Yallourn, VIC. This is a full-time apprenticeship opportunity that will provide you with comprehensive training in engineering trades whilst working alongside experienced professionals. You will develop practical skills in fitting, turning, and machining whilst contributing to our operations in a supportive learning environment. This role is based in office at our Yallourn facility, where you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting experienced fitters and turners with the setup, operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment

- Learning to operate and maintain precision machinery including lathes, milling machines and other engineering equipment

- Performing fitting tasks such as measuring, marking, cutting and assembling components to required specifications

- Assisting with the preparation, inspection and quality control of finished products

- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment in compliance with health and safety regulations

- Attending formal apprenticeship training sessions and theoretical instruction as part of your structured apprenticeship programe

- Following technical drawings and work instructions accurately to deliver high-quality results

- Collaborating with team members and asking questions to develop your technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities

What we're looking for

- Year 10 or higher level of formal education, or equivalent qualification

- A genuine interest in engineering trades and manufacturing processes

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in your work

- Excellent attendance and punctuality record

- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work safely in a workshop environment

- Good physical fitness and manual dexterity





- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills

- Positive attitude, reliability and the ability to work as part of a team

- Sound communication skills and ability to take on feedback constructively

- Any previous experience in engineering, metalwork or workshop environments is advantageous but not essential
