Sporty’s Warehouse is looking for an Assistant Store Manager for our upstairs footwear and clothing department. Working closely with the Department Manager, you’ll take an active role in customer service, staff development, stock management and daily operations.To start with we can offer three days a week, of which Saturday needs to be one

We’re looking for someone approachable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility. You’ll notice what needs doing, set clear priorities and follow tasks through to completion.

The role

- Helping customers choose footwear and clothing suited to their needs, fit and budget.
- Coordinating daily floor coverage, allocating tasks and making sure customers remain the priority.
- Training and coaching staff in customer service, selling skills, product knowledge and store procedures.
- Supporting sales targets through effective service, relevant product recommendations and consistent follow-up.
- Receiving deliveries, checking stock against invoices and ensuring stock is processed accurately.
- Maintaining stockroom organisation, replenishment, pricing and presentation standards.
- Assisting with stock enquiries, replenishment needs and supplier follow-up as required.
- Supporting website product updates and keeping product information accurate.




- Handling customer enquiries, exchanges and warranty requests within store procedures.
- Taking responsibility for the department when the Department Manager is away and providing clear handovers.

About you

You’ll bring:

- Previous retail experience with responsibility for supervising, training or supporting other staff.
- Confidence selling footwear, sportswear or similar products, with a willingness to develop your technical product knowledge.
- A practical, patient approach to training staff with different levels of experience.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail, particularly when handling stock and administration.
- The ability to balance serving customers with keeping daily tasks on track.
- Transparent communication and the judgement to resolve routine issues independently and elevate when needed.
- Confidence using POS systems, email and basic spreadsheets.
- Experience with Retail Express, online product administration or footwear fitting would be an advantage.

This role could suit an existing Assistant Manager or an experienced retail staff member ready to take the next step.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a varied footwear and clothing range, build relationships with regular customers and contribute directly to how the department operates.

Working closely with the Department Manager, you’ll have meaningful responsibility for helping staff develop, improving everyday processes and maintaining a department the team can take pride in.
