Chef position for a Café in Essendon North, VIC, working shift hours based on a 38-hour week between Monday to Sunday. The role involves preparing and cooking food to café standards, ensuring high quality presentation, and maintaining kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

Demonstrate initiative with a strong focus on detail and delivering high quality presentation of all food to excellent standard before serving to customers

Ensure that food portions and presentation meet café standards

Work in a fast pace, team-orientated environment and implement proper communication with fellow co-workers

Provide consistency of quality work performance

Ensure that food orders are completed in a timely manner and efficiently resolve problems with customers' orders

Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

Ensure all food preparation based on all café menu items are ready for next day trading

Cook food in various utensils or grillers, cooking equipment such as slicers, knives, ovens, grills, etc.





Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen, ensuring the kitchen is left clean and hygienically complying with food health and safety regulations for next day trading, including sweeping and mopping of floors, disposing rubbish in allocated bins, and cleaning and putting away stove top, grill, oven and all other cooking equipment

About you

Proven experience as chef

Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware

Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)

Ability to follow all sanitation procedures

Ability to work in a team

Very positive communication skills

Excellent physical condition and stamina

Monitor all kitchen supplies and provide stock requirements to the café owner

Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

Check quality of ingredients and monitor stock to ensure there are no shortages
