About the role

Mishka Hair Co is seeking talented individuals to join our team in a part-time role for a senior stylist: first year apprentice (full time), and freelance hairdressers who would like to rent a chair. Whether you are just starting your journey in the hair and beauty industry, looking to expand your client base as an experienced stylist, or seeking flexible freelance opportunities, we have the right position for you. Based in Brighton, VIC 3186, these are positions that offer flexibility and the opportunity to be part of a thriving salon community.

Key responsibilities

Learning fundamental hairdressing techniques under the guidance of experienced mentors

Assisting senior stylists with client services and salon operations

Performing shampooing, conditioning, and basic styling services

Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic workspace

Building client relationships and developing communication skills

Completing formal apprenticeship training and qualifications

For Part Time Senior Stylists:

Providing high-quality hairdressing services to clients, including cuts, colours, treatments and styling

Mentoring and supporting junior staff and apprentices

Maintaining strong client relationships and building a loyal clientele

Contributing to a positive salon culture and team collaboration

Staying current with industry trends and techniques

Ensuring all work meets salon standards and health and safety regulations

Providing independent hairdressing services to clients





Managing your own client schedule and bookings

Maintaining professional standards and salon policies

Contributing to the salon's reputation and client satisfaction

What we're looking for

A genuine passion for hair and beauty with enthusiasm to learn

No prior experience required; willingness to develop skills from the ground up

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude

Commitment to completing formal apprenticeship qualifications

Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced salon environment

For Part Time Senior Stylists:

Proven experience as a professional hairdresser with a strong portfolio

Comprehensive knowledge of cutting, colouring, and styling techniques

Excellent client service skills and the ability to build lasting relationships

Current or willingness to obtain relevant hairdressing qualifications and certifications

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Leadership qualities with experience mentoring junior staff

Established professional hairdressing qualifications and experience

A robust and reliable client base or proven ability to build one

Self-motivated and professional approach to work

Flexibility and adaptability to salon requirements

Current professional indemnity insurance (preferred)
