Graduate Systems Engineer

Epiminder is developing Minder, a minimally invasive device for long-term monitoring of brain activity in people with epilepsy, along with the next generation of products that will follow it.

We are looking for a Graduate Systems Engineer to support the full lifecycle development of those products. We want someone who can take user needs and turn them into clear requirements, understand how mechanical, electronic and software elements fit together, and help carry a design from concept through to verification and validation.

What you will do:

- Contribute to full lifecycle product development, from research and concept through design, prototype testing and preparation for manufacture.
- Translate clinical, patient and client needs into clear, traceable product requirements.
- Support the development of system architectures, use cases and requirements for current and future generation products.
- Carry out requirements analysis and human factors engineering activities across the design lifecycle.
- Document integration, verification and traceability, and maintain requirements tooling, product documentation and risk management records.
- Support design reviews, stage gate and milestone reviews, and the development of concepts, prototypes and verification devices.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams of systems, mechanical, electronic and software engineers, and help evolve our engineering processes and standards.

What we're looking for You will have a degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems or a related engineering discipline, with a solid academic record that reflects your ability and the care you bring to your work. Some exposure to systems engineering practice and engineering design, whether through industry experience, internships or substantial project work, will help you hit the ground running.

Familiarity with requirements tools is important.



Awareness of the medical device regulatory landscape (FDA, CE, TGA), risk analysis techniques such as hazard analysis, FMEA and fault tree analysis, and design control under ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820 would be a strong advantage.

- You want to understand how things actually work. You are not satisfied with knowing what a system does until you understand why it behaves the way it does, down to the detail.
- You pay close attention to detail and notice gaps, inconsistencies and untested assumptions in requirements and designs, then follow them through.
- You think in systems and naturally look for how components, requirements and people connect.
- You care about the end user and want to understand how patients and clinicians will actually use what we build.
- You communicate clearly in writing and in person, work well in a team, and are comfortable engaging with stakeholders and clients.

Epiminder is developing the Minder system, which captures EEG 24/7, revealing previously unseen brain activity. Studies show that many seizures go undetected, and our mission is to improve treatment using previously unseen data. For the patient, the Minder investigational system in minimally intrusive, and may offer an opportunity to collaborate with physicians about their care.

Complementing diaries, the ultra-long-term EEG monitoring aims to provide physicians with more information to help with treatment.
