Payroll Assistant

About the Role

As our Payroll Assistant, you will support the payroll function to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. You will assist with payroll administration, employee records, reporting, and payroll-related queries while working with Employment Hero HR & Payroll as a key payroll and employee management system.

This role is suited to someone who has practical experience using Employment Hero and is looking to further develop their payroll skills within a growing organisation.

Your Responsibilities

- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant requirements.
- Process payroll changes including new starters, terminations, leave, employee updates, salary adjustments, and employment variations.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records within Employment Hero HR & Payroll.
- Complete payroll administration tasks including data entry, record updates, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Support the payroll team with employee payroll queries and provide timely assistance.
- Assist with payroll reporting and compliance activities.
- Ensure employee information and payroll data are maintained accurately and confidentially.




- Support onboarding and employee record updates through Employment Hero HR & Payroll.
- Assist with payroll process improvements and administrative tasks as required.

About You

You are an organised and detail-focused individual who is looking to develop your payroll career. You enjoy working with systems, solving problems, and ensuring information is accurate.

To be successful, you will have:

- Experience using Employment Hero HR & Payroll (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience navigating Employment Hero for payroll and HR administration tasks.
- 6 months+ experience in payroll administration, finance administration, HR administration, or a similar role.
- Alternatively, you may be completing your final year of university in Accounting, Business, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline, with practical payroll system experience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support employee enquiries professionally.
- Ability to handle confidential payroll and employee information with discretion.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous improvement.
