WHO WE ARE
Macquarie Anglican is an evangelical Anglican church, focused on knowing Jesus through the Bible. We are intentionally intergenerational and intercultural, with 4 outward focuses: to raise our attention to God, to raise up new leadership and the next generation, to reach across to each other in fellowship and to reach out to neighbours, friends and family with Jesus’ good news.
Over the past 3 years, our departing Youth Minister has wonderfully consolidated and developed a small but comprehensive and cohesive youth ministry where teens grow in Christ. They attend regularly, study the Bible happily, have formed valuable relationships with each other, and serve in a range of ministry areas, as they grow toward christian adulthood.
WHO WE SEEK
We wish to employ someone of strong evangelical conviction to take our youth ministry into its next phase from the beginning of 2027.
The position offered is part time 3 days per week, with the possibility of 4 days per week.
We seek someone who has an appropriate Biblical or theological qualification from a recognised evangelical institution. We are open to consider applicants who are in the process of completing such study.
The main focuses of the position would be
- oversight of all youth ministry, giving particular attention to youth discipleship and leadership development
- pastoral support for youth and their leaders
- leading each of the existing youth ministry activities…
- Friday night Vine youth, leading the team and developing an invitational focus
- Sunday morning Salt youth, leading the team of parent and other volunteer leaders
- Sunday afternoon senior teen Bible study, as they develop to young adulthood
- supporting teen involvement & inclusion at evening church,
which has increasing youth attendance
- leading services and preaching as required, with evening service focus
- organising and supervising youth participation in LiT and KYCK
- encouraging service opportunities for youth such as Splash (our Friday night kids club) and Zest (our July holiday kids club)
- building and developing relationships with parents and families of teens
Ministry staff can also expect to be asked to undertake other duties that the senior minister may reasonably and lawfully ask of them.
We are looking for a person who is a genuine team player, showing initiative in their ministry area yet willingly taking direction, and collaborative with staff and lay leaders.
Applicants must be fully supportive of the leadership and teaching ministry of women in the life of the church.
It is an ongoing condition of employment to obtain and maintain the archbishop’s authority, WWCC clearance, and any other safe ministry qualification required.
WE ARE INTERESTED TO KNOW
We are interested to hear what gifts, strengths and experience you may bring to such a ministry. And how you hope to develop as a minister when undertaking this role. We look forward to hearing your motivation for, philosophy of, and approach to youth ministry.
The position would, in the first year, be directly responsible to the Families Minister.
Stipend and allowances in accordance with Sydney Diocesan guidelines, including a pro rata housing allowance. The position is funded by parishioner donations already received or directly pledged.
