Role Description - Senior Business Analyst

Primary purpose of the role

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for identifying, analysing and documenting business processes, systems and other functional requirements, and supporting stakeholder engagement and discovery activities to enable productive delivery of business operations and performance in line with organisational strategies, operational plans and project programs.

Key accountabilities

- Contribute to the development of business systems strategies and support the analysis of system architecture and integration considerations
- Assist in the analysis of business requirements and stakeholder needs, identifying opportunities, risks or issues
- Assist in the development of current 'As-ls' and future 'To-Be' models supporting workshops and analysis activities that form the basis for process redesign and improvement
- Participate in project teams as required to ensure that proposed developments are technically sound and meet business needs of Parliament
- Develop business requirements documentation and support scope definition for the acquisition or enhancement of business systems in accordance with technical and business needs
- Development of test scripts that accurately reflect specifications documentation
- Report to management and stakeholders in relation to the progress of, or issues associated with business analysis and discovery activities
- Collaborate with the project leads, business unit administrators, vendors and the IT Services team to clarify requirements, resolve issues and support delivery outcomes.

Decision making

The role is expected to operate with some degree of autonomy with respect to day-to-day work priorities and, in this context, is expected to determine matters that need to be referred to senior managers or other staff to deal with; and to provide advice, exercising discretion and judgment on what is appropriate to send to their manager and/or team.

Reporting line

Senior Business Analyst / Web Ecosystem Modernisation Program, Digital Transformation

Direct reports

- The role will have a variable number of direct and indirect reports (depending on business/project requirements).
- Key knowledge and experience
- Understanding of project management methodologies and experience working in projects
- Familiarity with agile working behaviours (highly desirable)
- Experience in working with agile delivery tools such as Trello, Jira and Confluence
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of some or all of the following technologies - SharePoint, Telerik and/or Kendo, ASP.NET, CSS, JavaScript, APls, HTML, XML, SQL
- Understanding of cloud-based environments, network infrastructure, websites and intranets.

Essential Requirements

- 10 years' experience in business systems analysis and specification
- Demonstrated documentation skills including the development of business requirements, scope development, technical design documentation
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications
- Expert knowledge of the MS Office suite of applications.

Pay: $700.00 – $750.00 per day
